While on a recent trip to San Francisco I was at the Almeda Flea Market. This is Huge! We actually timed our trip so we could attend. My main disappointment was that it is all vintage or antique. I had an eye out for a crystal ball. Just as we were going to lunch I saw two crystal balls at a booth. Two women came up at the same time and they were drawn to the balls also. One of the women was a hypnotist. We spoke for a few seconds. I didn't get back to the booth but I imagine a crystal ball like that would be more than I would have spent. I planted the suggestion in my son's head to get that for Christmas. (not really)
There are Tarot and palm readers booths in the San Francisco area. I was reminded of my father's cousin from the Upper Peninsula, Della Blee. She told fortunes reading palms. I think she had a crystal ball as well. Her face was that of an old stern English woman with jowls and intense blue eyes. I was afraid of her until she smiled.
These things have nothing to do with hypnosis but in the layman's eye they do. Hypnosis is all mixed up with telling futures and past lives. Controlling other people. Turning up the wrong card has nothing to do with your life...unless you had placed a bet on that card. I just like the trappings. It sets the mood. If one wants to affect their future start by changing yourself today. Better habits lead to better results.
There were a few other things that happened on this trip that pushed me or pulled me back to practicing more hypnosis. If it is used properly it will benefit anyone of normal intelligence. It is exciting and worth pursuing. I found a Sigmund Freud action figure at a Goodwill Store out there. I was reminded of being told that Freud's grandson used to attend the Hypnosis conventions. According to the grandson, Freud wished he had stuck with hypnotism instead of the long process of psychoanalysis . All signs are pointing to Hypnosis!

M ore Possibilities
Hi all. My office is still about a week away from completion. I ran into some very belligerent wall paper. I am quite enthused today though. One of the Omni hypnotists is looking for someone to help a friend of his in San Francisco. She is going through chemotherapy and wants to see an Omni-trained hypnotist. Since my son lives out there, I offered my services. I would love to go out to visit and see the client. Also, since I have had cancer and been through all aspects of treatment, I would be a good candidate to work with this cancer patient.
Later today the University of Michigan Hospital called to do some follow-up study on how I was doing with my neck cancer surgery. After I provided them the information, I mentioned that I had become a hypnotist and if I could be of help to anyone there I am available. The young lady gave my information to the head of the Oncology support group.
So one thing leads to another. It's a little embarrassing but you have to put yourself out there a little (or a lot). I have something to offer many people. One thing Jerry has said repeatedly,"It takes courage."
Hopefully I will work with many people and be of great benefit to almost all of them. Hope you are well.

I will persevere
Hi all. A couple of days ago I listened to my old mentor, Gerald Kein. He was giving a web broadcast on group hypnosis. The purpose of the "webinar" (I'm not sure of the proper definition) was to get people interested enough to sign up to see Gerry's presentation at the National Guild of Hypnotists convention in August. Mission accomplished Gerry. He uses Gerry or Jerry, by the way.
It was great to hear my old teacher (he's at least 5 years older than me). He is a direct connection to Dave Elman. He worked with Dave when Jerry was just a teenager. He learned a lot from the Master and he has patterned his hypnosis on that of Dave Elman. I really think he should write a book on those experiences.
Anyway, I was inspired to restart my group hypnosis work. I'm really enthused and have some ideas I want to try out. I will start with three sessions a week. The times will stay constant and subjects will rotate so if you want to go at 9AM you will be able to see any of the subjects. The other time slots will be 2 PM and 7 PM. I'm starting with Smoking, Self Hypnosis and Stress Reduction.
My office is being repainted right now so my sessions can start in June.
Jerry has a lot of good ideas to get business and I can come up with a few of my own. I am looking for an assistant to keep the fires stoked and keep some order. Hope you are well.

Why don't you come up and see me?
I'd be happy to have you over for a chat. We could speak of the weather, children and grandchildren, gardening and perhaps guitar. I'd make us some tea or coffee. I would tell you what I've learned about how the mind works. How in many ways the mind is like a computer. The computer carries out programming. If the programming is wrong, the result will be wrong. The programming can be changed and the result can be corrected.
If you decide you want to work with me to solve your problem, we would come up with a course of action. Let's say you want to lose a few pounds. I have a one-session weight loss program that we could execute and you would start losing the weight immediately. In a couple of weeks we'd talk on the phone to see how it's going. You would be reprogrammed to be 20 pounds lighter. The change would be permanent, until something changes the programming.
You might choose to learn self-hypnosis. You would then write your own suggestions. This is a very powerful skill to have. It takes a bit of effort to attain. Once you have it there are an endless number of improvements to be made. Here are a few examples:
1- I love myself.
2- I exercise daily and love it.
3- I am comfortable when talking to others.
4- I am unique and I am pleased with myself.
5- The calmer I am the more in control I am.
6- I can change my life to any direction I desire.
You may also use self hypnosis with a recording. I could make one specifically for you. Start the recording and there is some silent time to allow you to get prepared. The powerful suggestions start with some deepening and reinforcement included. After ten to fifteen minutes you are emerged and you feel fantastic. It's a great thing to do for yourself.
There are many other avenues and methods. So, come up and see me sometime. I will only see you as many times as necessary to fix the problem. Usually once or twice.

SELF HYPNOSIS PARTY
In December I had a flurry of hypnosis interest and activity. This reinvigorated my interest and desire to have some seminars on self-hypnosis. I had tried this before but my newspaper ad had no results. Now, however, the timing is right and I thought it would be good for me to have a practice session. The billing as a party is to keep some of the dry, institutional tone of the word seminar or lecture, at bay.
Three brave souls attended the soiree. It does take some courage to attend something involving hypnosis. There is so much misinformation out there that I find frequent obfuscatory titles or descriptions regularly. Some are: mind coach, guided meditation, walking meditation, natural healing and many others. Don't use the H-word. Plus there are the plain wrong ideas of losing control or getting stuck in a trance or telling secrets.
I'm thinking maybe it's a losing battle. I should just be a power of positive thinking guy.
The party went quite well for a first try. I went too far with my explanation of hypnosis. There were a couple of other areas of improvement also. Two of the three participants were able to go into trance. They showed interest and will likely use what they learned. The other person was held back by something. One has to be able to use their imagination, to pretend, make believe as a child. It was fine except it disrupted the experience for the other two. I'll have to be ready for that if I do this again. If there was a charge for this, it wouldn't have been an okay ending.
It was fun, coming up with some demonstrations, learning how to make audio recordings that modern people are likely to use etc. When I started it was cassettes, then CD's and now digital files you download to your device. It's great what one can do with a tablet.
It will be interesting to see what my future is regarding the WORK, as my teacher refers to it.
Self "Coaching" really is a valuable thing to learn.
