In December I had a flurry of hypnosis interest and activity. This reinvigorated my interest and desire to have some seminars on self-hypnosis. I had tried this before but my newspaper ad had no results. Now, however, the timing is right and I thought it would be good for me to have a practice session. The billing as a party is to keep some of the dry, institutional tone of the word seminar or lecture, at bay.
Three brave souls attended the soiree. It does take some courage to attend something involving hypnosis. There is so much misinformation out there that I find frequent obfuscatory titles or descriptions regularly. Some are: mind coach, guided meditation, walking meditation, natural healing and many others. Don't use the H-word. Plus there are the plain wrong ideas of losing control or getting stuck in a trance or telling secrets.
I'm thinking maybe it's a losing battle. I should just be a power of positive thinking guy.
The party went quite well for a first try. I went too far with my explanation of hypnosis. There were a couple of other areas of improvement also. Two of the three participants were able to go into trance. They showed interest and will likely use what they learned. The other person was held back by something. One has to be able to use their imagination, to pretend, make believe as a child. It was fine except it disrupted the experience for the other two. I'll have to be ready for that if I do this again. If there was a charge for this, it wouldn't have been an okay ending.
It was fun, coming up with some demonstrations, learning how to make audio recordings that modern people are likely to use etc. When I started it was cassettes, then CD's and now digital files you download to your device. It's great what one can do with a tablet.
It will be interesting to see what my future is regarding the WORK, as my teacher refers to it.
Self "Coaching" really is a valuable thing to learn.
